About It’s the End, Pennie Wilson
It’s 2021, and Pennie Wilson is an autistic high school secretary living a solitary life with her cat in Morganton, North Carolina. The COVID-19 pandemic is still raging, and politics have driven the country into a frenzy. She doesn’t know her neighbors, her brother lives in Seattle, and when the novel begins her parents have started a road trip out west.
One day, everything grinds to a halt. There’s no power or cell service, and water follows shortly after. Pennie and the other residents of her apartment complex band together to survive what feels like the end.
“It's the End, Pennie Wilson” is a hyper local, character driven novel about the fullness of neurodivergent life, the warmth of found families, and the potential consequences of a harsh political landscape.
